SHot part 2

Two guys from the ambulance lifted her onto the wheeled stretcher and into the back of the ambulance.

Daron and Serj watched closely for any sign of life. When a guy said one of them could go, Serj looked over at Daron. “Go” Daron opened his mouth to say something but Serj interrupted him. “Go now!” Daron nodded and got in with his Wife.

Daron held her hand the whole way there. She twitched every so often with the bumps in the road. Her heartbeat was slow and uneven, but it was still there.

When the ambulance stooped, they slid her out and ran down the hall towards the ER. Daron followed close behind until one nurse made him go out the door to the waiting room.

He leaned against the wall right next to the door for a while. When he saw Serj, John and Shavo out the window, running up to the door, he slid down the wall and sat on the ground. He hugged his knees to his chest and buried his face in the little space between his knees and neck.

Serj ran over to Daron. “How is she?”

Daron moaned. “ I don’t know” His muffled voice cracked.

Serj knelt down next to Daron. “Come here.” He said putting an arm around Daron. He leaned against Serj and started to sniffle. Serj put his head on Darons and closed his eyes. In his head he was praying for his god to keep Eva on earth.

“I need her.” Daron started. This made Serj swallow hard. “Im nothing without her. She is my life.” He shoved his head further against Serjs neck.

Serj pulled him closer. “I know Daron.” He bit his lip. “She’s all I have too.” He started to tear up now. He would have let it all go if it wasn’t for Shavo and Daron’s little cousin Julia walking over.

“John’s wife barong her.” Shavo said. Julia, Daron’s five-year-old cousin wrapped her little arms around Daron. Daron and Eva had been taking care of her. Her parents died almost a year ago.

“What’s wrong Dare ron. What’s wrong uncky Serj?” She asked in her little kid voice.

“Nothing honey. Every thing is all right.” Daron hugged her tightly. He sounded calmer then only moments ago.

“John wants to know if you want us take her tonight.” Shavo said to Daron.

Daron looked up at him and thought for a minute. “Yea, thank you.” He said and looked back to Julia. “Do you want to stay at John and Shavo’s house again?” He asked.

“Yea!” She said. She gave Daron and Serj a hug, then her, John, Shavo and John’s wife left.

Serj and Daron stayed in the waiting room for what seemed like forever. They were talking, trying to keep their minds off of what had happened, but not forget it.

“It’s not the whole thing that im upset about, I mean, it’s not just her.” Daron played with the rug strings.

“What do you mean?” Serj’s eyebrows dipped down.

“Serj,” Daron paused. “She was pregnant.” His heart ached again.

Serj’s jaw dropped and his eyebrows lay flat on his bone now. “She…” He looked around. “You mean, she, on my god. Im going to be a grandfather?”

Daron shook his head. “Was Serj, she was.” He looked up at his father in law. “She was shot in her stomach, I highly doubt our child survived.” His jaw tightened under those words.

Serj went to say something, but was cut off by a Doctor. “Excuse me, Mr. Malakian?”

Daron nodded and stood up. “Is she alright?”

“Yes, she is sleeping. She is up in room ---” The doctor left. Serj and Daron sprinted up to the room and found her lying there with new, non-bloody cloths on.

“And that is how dad freaked out and became over-protective!” Eva told her three teen-agers.

“Wow dad, way to be.” Their son, Kyle laughed.

Daron rolled his eyes. “You were shot! What do you think I would do? Laugh?”

Eva smiled, “that’s what I would do.”

“Hahaha, you got shot!” Kyle’s twin, Liana pointed at her sister, Ramona, who was lying on the ground, pretending to be shot.

Serj laughed, Owned!” He punched Daron in the arm gently.

“Whatever.” Daron scowled.
